ABOUT THE LAND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
The Land Development Agency (LDA) is a key Government Commercial State Body that delivers social and affordable housing on State and other lands. Recently provided with an additional €2.5bn in funding by Government this brings the LDA's total funding capacity to €8.75bn. The LDA will be the largest home builder in Ireland by the end of 2028.
The LDA has commenced construction on various state sourced lands and has a direct delivery pipeline in excess of 21,000 homes with over 6,500 homes constructed or currently under construction. The LDA is also delivering affordable housing by working with the private sector on an initiative called 'Project Tosaigh', which will yield 8,000 homes by the end of 2028. Recently the LDA has secured planning permission for hundreds of new homes at locations such as the Limerick Gasworks, Corrib Causeway in Galway and in Dublin; Bluebell Waterways and Dundrum Central. Additionally, the LDA is working on large-scale longer-term strategic areas by master-planning and bringing forward planning applications in locations such as Limerick Colbert Quarter, the Digital Hub in Dublin and Sandy Road in Galway.
Summary:
The Tax Analyst will support the LDA's growing tax function across all areas of taxation, with a focus on Irish corporation tax, VAT, and relevant property-related taxes (e.g., stamp duty, LPT, RCT). The role will work closely with senior members of the internal finance, legal, and development teams as well as external advisors to ensure the LDA remains fully compliant and tax efficient. Given the ongoing growth of the LDA, this role presents an opportunity to work in a fast paced environment with opportunities for professional development.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Ensure accurate and timely preparation, completion and filing of indirect and direct tax returns.
* Co-ordinate tax advisory for acquisitions, disposals and development projects.
* Provide tax advisory support to various business units within the company.
* Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives in tax reporting.
* Maintain and update tax records and documentation.
* Support audits and provide documentation and analysis as required.
* Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and implement efficiencies.
* Liaise with external advisors to ensure compliance with local tax legislation.
Requirements:
* Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualified, or similar professional qualification (ACA/ACCA).
* 4-5 years' experience in tax with 1-2 years PQE, ideally with exposure to the Real Estate sector.
* Strong understanding of Irish tax legislation, especially in VAT.
* Familiarity with Real Estate tax issues such as capital allowances, corporation tax, stamp duty, and RCT is advantageous.
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/tax software (e.g., Sage)
* Proficient in building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
* Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks.
