We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to identify business opportunities, drive growth and maximise cross selling opportunities across all divisions of the business.
This individual will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building sustainable client relationships, and developing strategic partnerships that align with our laboratory capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of laboratory services, technical sales and B2B relationship management. The role will require frequent travel to customer sites nationally and our head office in Galway.What's important: Proven track record in revenue growth and building sustainable client relationships.A results driven approach.Relevant industry experience is a significant advantage.Excellent communication skills.A proactive "can-do" approach and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.The Role:Sales Growth & Contracts:Identify new business opportunities to drive sales growth.Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads through research, networking, and strategic outreach.Work closely with the Department Director and Marketing team to develop and execute strategies to meet revenue targets.Use CRM tools to track activity, manage the sales funnel, and report performance metrics.Prepare and present proposals and contract renewals to clients.Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring terms and pricing are comprehensive and competitive while aligning with company objectives.Ensure compliance with contract terms and address any disputes or contractual issues.Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market conditions.Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and professional events.Commercial Account Management:Monitor account performance with internal stakeholders and identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell services.Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships by understanding their business needs.Act as main commercial contact for clients.Regularly meet with clients to review their accounts and identity further commercial opportunities and to ensure satisfaction with services and products.Collaborate with internal departments, such as customer support and operations, to ensure client needs are met and the successful delivery of services.Provide feedback to the Department Directors based on client feedback and market needs.Where you've come from:Bachelor's degree in Business or Science or relevant experience.Approximately 5 years experience in a business development role.Previous experience in the laboratory services industry will be highly regarded.Experience with public procurement and tender writing would be advantageous.Who you are: A natural sales generator with the ability to proactively seek out new opportunities.Commercially driven with a proven ability to meet and exceed sales and revenue targets.Client-focused with a deep understanding of customer needs.Strong understanding of business operations, laboratory procedures and industry regulationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present to prospective clients.Highly organized, efficient and attentive to detail.Personable, professional and a confident communicator with the skills to build relationships.Flexible and adaptable to change with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Ability to use initiative and solve problems.Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.Diversity and inclusion are essential to our mission and achieving our vision at CLS.
