Role Summary: Join our innovative team as a Mechanical Design Engineer (R&D) to develop a groundbreaking medical device aimed at reducing blood loss during medical procedures. Collaborate with electronic and software engineers to design and develop a commercial product that improves patient care. Who we want: As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, R&D, you will perform a variety of technical tasks in planning, design, and implementation of mechanical components for medical devices used by surgeons and healthcare staff. You will contribute to the mechanical design of embedded medical devices supporting blood loss research.
What you will do:
Technical Responsibilities:
* Research, design, develop, modify, and verify components/modules for medical devices with minimal supervision.
* Translate design inputs into engineering specifications and produce subsystem designs.
* Develop and analyze solutions, creating prototypes to demonstrate proof of concept.
* Apply fundamental and advanced concepts for problem solving.
Business Responsibilities:
* Understand customer needs and design inputs thoroughly.
* Demonstrate proficiency with the product’s intended use and clinical procedures.
* Learn how financial models are constructed.
Med Device Compliance:
* Follow industry standards, design requirements, and test strategies relevant to regulatory compliance.
* Create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History File.
* Adhere to R&D procedures like design controls and risk management as per the Quality Management System.
General Responsibilities:
* Work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management teams to ensure project success.
* Quickly learn and apply procedures, policies, and systems.
* Work on complex problems, applying advanced experience and learnings.
* Demonstrate ownership and prioritize tasks independently.
* Collaborate effectively as a key team member.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering, with 4+ years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly desired):
* Knowledge of mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
* Ability to create engineering drawings and models, applying GD&T and CAE tools.
* Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes for product design.
* Effective communication of technical information to team members.
