The role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Medical Oncology involves providing expert nursing care and support to patients diagnosed with cancer.
 1. Key responsibilities include delivering specialist nursing services for patients with new cancer diagnoses, conducting comprehensive patient assessments, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based practice in all areas of patient care.
 2. The CNS will work closely with patients, their medical teams, and the nursing team to provide high standards of care in both primary and secondary care settings.
Responsibilities also include acting as a point of contact for patients in outpatient settings, managing telephone triage hotlines using validated assessment tools, undertaking detailed patient assessments, and participating in case reviews with MDT colleagues.
