Electrical Engineer – Capital Projects (Contract Role)SummaryElectrical Engineer supporting delivery of a major capital project at a regulated manufacturing site. Responsible for ensuring electrical systems are designed, installed, commissioned, and handed over in compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and GMP requirements. The role supports the full project lifecycle from design through construction, testing, and operational handover.Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Project DeliveryLead electrical scope for capital projects including power distribution (MV/LV), automation power systems, and electrical infrastructure.Ensure electrical systems are designed and installed to required engineering and regulatory standards.Support project execution from design through commissioning and handover.Contractor & Installation OversightSupervise electrical contractors on site and ensure adherence to safety procedures, permits, and isolation requirements.Review contractor RAMS, installation practices, and testing activities.Drive right-first-time installation through inspections and quality checks.Electrical Infrastructure & CablingOversee cable routing, containment installation, segregation, and mechanical protection.Ensure correct cable installation, labeling, terminations, and documentation.Maintain accurate cable schedules, redlines, and as-built drawings.Equipment & Automation IntegrationDefine and approve locations for MCCs, VSDs, control panels, and electrical distribution equipment.Coordinate electrical interfaces with automation, instrumentation, and OEM equipment suppliers.Ensure proper earthing, EMC considerations, and power integration.Hazardous Area ComplianceEnsure electrical works in hazardous areas meet applicable ATEX and safety requirements.Verify correct installation practices, equipment certification, and documentation.Testing, Commissioning & HandoverOversee electrical testing including continuity, insulation resistance, protection testing, and functional checks.Support FAT/SAT activities and energisation planning.Ensure complete handover documentation including certificates, O&M manuals, and asset data.Technical Documentation & StandardsMaintain electrical drawings, schematics, and project documentation.Ensure electrical standards and specifications are followed by contractors and project teams.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with engineering, automation, operations, EHS, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and maintain compliance.Participate in inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.Safety LeadershipPromote electrical safety and safe systems of work including permit control and lock-out/tag-out procedures.Ensure contractor compliance with site safety standards.Experience & QualificationsDegree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.Experience delivering electrical projects in regulated manufacturing environments.Knowledge of power distribution systems (MV/LV), substations, transformers, and switchgear.Experience working in hazardous area environments (ATEX).Understanding of GMP standards within manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment
