Cloud Technical Site Reliability Engineer
Join to apply for the Cloud Technical Site Reliability Engineer role at Bank of Ireland. We are looking for a Cloud Technical Site Reliability Engineer to join our Cloud Centre of Excellence. You will contribute to the overall IT Digital transformation journey, building solutions from scratch using native technologies and supporting critical workloads on cloud.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements ensuring reliability and performance standards.
Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor systems, proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, availability issues or monitoring gaps.
Support the CCoE to understand error budgets for platforms and critical workloads.
Own problem‑management, perform proactive problem management and conduct post‑incident analyses.
Support change management and UAM processes, plan low‑impact deployments (blue/green, canary) in alignment with error budgets.
Create and maintain operational documentation and technical manuals.
Qualifications
Experience managing business‑critical environments with public cloud (AWS and Azure preferred). Strong Linux/Unix knowledge, proficiency in Python and Shell scripting, and familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Chef. Experience with code and deployment tools (Bitbucket, Jenkins or native tooling). Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Strong problem‑solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently under pressure.

SRE related certification
Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure)
IT Audit and Risk Management certification
