Our company is committed to maintaining a culture of safety excellence. As a Safety Officer, you will play a key role in leading our efforts to promote and maintain a safe working environment.
Key responsibilities include actively promoting health and safety practices, providing training and guidance to colleagues, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing effective EHSQ policies and procedures, including conducting regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.
In addition, you will prepare and update all necessary health and safety documentation, including safety statements, risk assessments, and incident reports.
Duties also include managing safety officers and subcontractors, distributing health and safety procedures and policies, preparing training plans, procuring and arranging health and safety training for staff, and ensuring that all staff are aware of their responsibilities and roles in promoting a safe working environment.
Additionally, you will conduct accident and incident investigations, maintain and update accident and incident statistics, and liaise with statutory bodies and insurance providers as required.
Responsibilities also include preparing health and safety plans for projects, auditing and implementing ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards, and maintaining and implementing "SafeTcert" accreditation.
Other key duties include carrying out site safety audits and inspections, providing assistance and guidance to colleagues, reporting to senior management on any safety-related issues, ordering and maintaining a stock of safety supplies, and assisting the marketing department in promoting safety via various social media outlets.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Required qualifications and experience include a BSc in Health and Safety or equivalent, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint, Safe Pass and Manual Handling, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of Irish Health and Safety legislation is also required.
