Overview of role:
We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Manager III at UPMC Aut Even Hospital.
The role is responsible for providing quality service in line with nursing standards and ensuring safe patient care.
The ideal candidate should be energetic, enthusiastic, and capable of leading and motivating a team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and management to the staff on duty.
Implement deteriorating patient pathway and patient placement policies.
Proactively redeploy staff based on clinical and acuity requirements.
Lead staff performance management.
Promote and maintain high standards of nursing care, ensuring patient and staff safety.
Support operational delivery and manage professional or operational issues requiring escalation.
Empower nurse managers to deliver high-quality, safe patient care.
Ensure compliance with NMBI standards and develop nursing scope of practice.
Maintain personal professional development and stay updated with evidence-based practice.
Participate in development programs and share knowledge with the team.
Lead on KPIs and quality initiatives with the Quality department.
Report audit and KPI results monthly to ADONs.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, legislation, and regulatory requirements.
Review policies and practices through audits and team engagement.
Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and innovation.
Set and monitor objectives, standards, and KPIs, and oversee audits.
Lead hospital accreditation and risk management processes.
Participate in multidisciplinary groups and committees related to patient safety and care.
Operations:
Provide professional leadership for nursing services, ensuring safe and effective care.
Contribute to planning and development of resources and services.
Ensure evidence-based nursing care reflecting best practices.
Develop relationships with other healthcare facilities.
Handle complaints and conduct investigations as needed.
Ensure effective communication with patients, families, and staff.
Participate in patient rounds and implement hourly rounding.
Ensure best practices in handover and medical/nursing communication.
Collaborate with medical staff and hospital management to ensure efficient unit management.
Identify opportunities for service development and improvement.
Maintain readiness for critical incidents and support resuscitation services.
People Management:
Provide leadership and support to nursing staff, fostering a positive environment.
Participate in recruitment, induction, and staff development.
Promote staff retention, good communication, and team spirit.
Recognize staff achievements and contributions.
Learning and Education:
Facilitate professional development opportunities.
Collaborate on educational initiatives and clinical placements.
Maintain records of training and education.
Support staff competence assessments and study leave processes.
Quality Improvement and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with policies, legislation, and accreditation standards.
Encourage ongoing review and improvement of practices.
Participate in hospital accreditation and risk management programs.
Support research dissemination and evidence-based practice.
Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures with the multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications & Experience:
Registered nurse with NMBI in the general division.
Post-registration qualification in intensive care nursing or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years' experience in an acute hospital, including management.
Experience with deteriorating patient management and escalation.
Knowledge of service development and change management.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification or in pursuit.
IT skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and data management tools.
Qualifications in ALERT and Fire Warden training or in pursuit.
Flexible, dynamic, and motivated approach.
