About the Company
The Irish Retired Greyhound Trust is a registered Charity whose objective is to promote the rehoming of greyhounds after their retirement from racing and to encourage their adoption as domestic pets. The IRGT liaises and communicates with the Greyhound owners, representatives of other welfare organisations both at home and abroad, and the wider Irish public about the process involved in transitioning an elite greyhound athlete into a domesticated pet. A key part of this communication is highlighting the positive attributes of the retired greyhound as a desirable pet that will soon become a trusted and valued member of the family. The IRGT is an integral part of Ràsaìocht Con Éireann/ Greyhound Racing Ireland which provides financial and managerial support to it.
The Role
The Irish Retired Greyhound Trust are seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Marketing & Rehoming Support Officer. This unique dual role blends creative marketing with hands-on support for the rehoming of retired greyhounds.
Hours of Work
The role is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week normally Monday to Friday but will occasionally require attendance at race nights, events and promotions outside of those days and hours.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Marketing Duties :
* Ensure that all website and social media content is managed and up to date.
* Provide creative input and assist with developing promotional programs, marketing campaigns and marketing projects.
* Develop and execute multi-platform marketing campaigns (social media, video, PR, events, radio, etc.)
* Create engaging content aligned with the core values of the IRGT.
* Support internal departments with marketing needs and promotional initiatives.
* Manage event logistics including attending at expos and fairs and assist with national campaigns and special projects.
* Promote rehoming success stories through digital and print media.
* Promote greyhound rehomings in Ireland and in Europe, on all social media platforms.
* Liaising with Irish, European, American and Canadian organisations and charities which are involved in the rehoming of greyhounds.
* Provide education and information to the general public and to industry participants regarding best practice in greyhound welfare including rehoming.
Rehoming Support Officer Duties:
* Assist in coordinating the rehoming process for retired greyhounds.
* Liaise with adoption partners, shelters, and prospective owners.
* Ensuring that greyhounds being rehomed are fully prepared for rehoming and all paperwork is completed and in compliance with relevant regulations.
* Consulting with RCÉ's Care and Foster Centers
* Processing of Invoices & payments.
* Promote and actively participate in all rehoming initiatives and events organised and attended by the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust (IRGT) and/or other welfare organisations.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Experience & Skills
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in marketing or communications would be desirable.
* 3rd Level Education in the Business or Marketing Field would be an advantage.
* Excellent knowledge of IT and Social Media.
* High level of both written and verbal communication skills.
* Passion for animal welfare and a strong understanding of the core values of IRGT.
* Flexible attitude to the role.
* Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
