CNC Machinist Precision Toolmaking (Co. Cork) We are working with a leading specialist in high-precision engineering and mould tool manufacture based in Co. Cork. We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join their team. This role is focused on the production of complex, high-tolerance components for the medical device, pharmaceutical, and automotive sectors. Core Responsibilities CNC Operation: Set up and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-precision tools and components. Programming & Editing: Utilise CAM software (e.g., Mastercam or similar) to generate programmes and perform on-machine edits to optimise cutting paths. Precision Measurement: Conduct self-inspection of parts using micrometres, verniers, and CMM equipment to ensure compliance with strict micron-level tolerances. Tooling Management: Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for a variety of materials including hardened steels, aluminium, and engineering plastics. Process Improvement: Collaborate with the design and toolmaking teams to improve machining efficiency and reduce cycle times on bespoke projects. Candidate Profile & CompensationEssential Criteria Recognised Trade Qualification (e.g., Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting / Toolmaking). 35 years of experience in a precision CNC machining environment, ideally within toolmaking or medical components. Proven ability to read and interpret complex 2D and 3D engineering drawings. Experience with modern control systems (e.g., Heidenhain, Fanuc, or Hurco). A high level of manual dexterity and a "right first time" approach to quality. Compensation Hourly Rate: €22.00 €28.00 per hour (Negotiable based on depth of programming and toolmaking experience).
