Job Description
We are seeking a Quantitative Risk Assistant Manager for the Grant Thornton Quantitative Risk Advisory Services team within Financial Services Advisory.
This role focuses on banking sector risk modeling, including IRB, IFRS9, Stress Testing, Pillar 2, and Portfolio Management.
You will develop, lead, and oversee engagements, identify and resolve client issues, and provide updates to senior leaders.
Main responsibilities
Lead assignments and engagements with banking clients in specialist quantitative and risk expertise, including independent model validation.
Implement bespoke quantitative and qualitative frameworks for best-in-class end-to-end independent model validation.
Provide expertise and specialist knowledge, ensuring high-quality deliverables and ongoing professional development within the team.
Contribute to firm development by creating proposals that align with client needs and market opportunities.
Communicate outcomes clearly to internal reporting lines and external stakeholders.
Provide training and support for the team, including onboarding new hires and managing junior members' work allocations.
Skills and attributes
Master's degree or equivalent professional qualification in quantitative risk, modeling, finance, economics, maths, or related discipline.
3-5 years of relevant financial services experience; model validation experience is highly desirable.
Extensive knowledge of the banking sector and quantitative risk management techniques.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and organisational skills.
Ability to critically assess complex issues and distil solutions from large volumes of information.
Knowledge of banking regulatory frameworks and key risk drivers.
Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to engage senior management, staff, and clients.
Strong time-management skills and ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
Proficiency with statistical/code packages such as SAS, R, Python, VBA, C++.
Excellent MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
