Staff Nurse Day Surgery (Part-Time)Location: UPMC Whitfield Hospital, WaterfordJob type: PermanentOverviewUPMC Whitfield recruits a part‑time Staff Nurse to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care within a multidisciplinary team. The role involves innovative practice and specialist knowledge in the clinical area.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesDeliver the highest standard of patient care and support the unit manager.Act as preceptor to students and mentor clinical staff.Collaborate with nursing colleagues and link lecturers to create a recognised learning environment.Advocate for patients, maintaining emotional and psychological support.Maintain professional registration and comply with NMBI guidelines.Apply clinical risk reporting, occupational health and patient safety policies.Health & SafetyEnsure compliance with fire, infection control, radiation safety and health and safety regulations.Identify risks and adhere to incident reporting procedures.Quality & AuditParticipate in clinical audit and local audits for accreditation.Professional / EducationManage workload and uphold confidentiality of patient information.Administer drugs according to statutory guidelines and NMBI medication management.Develop IT skills for efficient clinical work and use IPiMS on the patient pathway.Qualifications & ExperiencePost registration experience, at least 1 year in surgical nursing.Experience in urology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics or general surgery an advantage.Full registration with NBMI in the general nursing division.IT literate and certified in BLS.Strong leadership, negotiation and organisational skills.Equal Opportunity StatementUPMC is an equal opportunity employer.
