Embedded Tools Engineer

IT Search is partnered with a global semiconductor company known for cutting-edge mixed-signal and embedded solutions across aerospace, industrial, and high-reliability systems.
We’re now hiring an Embedded Tools Engineer to help shape internal and open-source developer tooling for custom RISC-V-based SoCs. You'll join a tight-knit team working across the full embedded software stack - with a focus on build systems, SDKs, and VS Code extension development to streamline the workflow of embedded teams globally.
This role would suit someone who enjoys building scalable infrastructure and tools to improve developer productivity - ideally with experience in CMake-based toolchains, IDE integrations, and cross-team technical enablement.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Evolving and supporting a modern SDK for RISC-V-based SoC development
* Maintaining and enhancing VS Code plugins for embedded workflows (build, flash, debug)
* Driving integration with debuggers (GDB), OpenOCD, and custom FPGA toolchains
* Working closely with silicon, firmware, and DevOps teams to align tooling across the org
* Contributing to internal documentation, training materials, and support for wider adoption
What We’re Looking For:
* Strong experience in C, C++, Python, and scripting for build/dev environments
* Solid grasp of CMake, Git, and embedded toolchain concepts
* Experience building or maintaining VS Code extensions (TypeScript / Node.js)
* Familiarity with debugging tools like GDB, OpenOCD, or FreeRTOS-based workflows
This is a high-impact role within a growing team, ideal for someone who enjoys creating tools that scale and simplify embedded development. The team works on a hybrid basis (2–3 days onsite in Dublin), with a strong benefits package including bonus, pension, health insurance, and employee share options.
