Position TitleYouth Development Officer / Youth WorkerThe EmployerDundrum/Rathdown Youth ServiceCrosscare delivers services with a servant leadership ethos. Crosscare’s Homeless, Youth, Information and Advocacy Teams support those most in need with Love, Respect and Excellence. Crosscare exists to support individual and families when they face difficult challenges in life and when they find it hard to get the help they need. Crosscare focuses on helping people when they need it most or when they can’t find support anywhere else.Nature ScopeA Youth Development Officer with Crosscare is a front‑line youth worker whose main focus is delivering positive youth work programmes with young people, especially those most in need. The role is grounded in Crosscare’s youth work approach, which emphasises supporting young people’s personal, social and community development through voluntary, engaging activities and interventions.LocationSandyford area (locations may change)Work Schedule37.5 hours per week including 3 late nights and occasional weekendsContractFull time/PermanentSalary€38,769 - €57,011, depending on experienceReporting toService ManagerGeneral ResponsibilitiesImplement programmes in line with funding requirementsSpend 70% of working hours in direct contact with young people, with an emphasis on disadvantaged young peopleEnsure organised programmes fit within the Youth Work Process and Models of Youth WorkWork a minimum of three nights per week and weekends as requestedOrganise residentials as part of the Youth Work ProgrammeAttend and participate at staff meetings within the serviceRepresent the Youth Service, when requested, at various committeesSubmit all paperwork within specified time periodApply for relevant grants related to the ongoing work, in consultation with your Line ManagerWork within the ethos and values of CrosscareImplement the Crosscare StrategyAttend any relevant training to the workManage challenging behaviours and situationsWork in collaboration with the existing teamCarry out any other duties assigned by your line managerDevelop and maintain positive community relationshipsEssential RequirementsThird Level Qualification in Youth Work (or similar) and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with young people at risk.Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsMotivation and ability to work on own initiativeA passion for youth work and social justiceExcellent organisational, time management and record keeping skillsIT Skills (MS Office essential, experience in database use desirable)Strong leadership skillsTeamwork CollaborationCreativity InnovationFlexibility and adaptabilityFacilitation and group work skillsEmpathy and understandingNegotiation skillsOtherPersonal Skills/Attributes:Full clean driver’s licence and own transportBenefitsCompetitive salariesGenerous annual leaveAdditional leave for long serviceTraining and Development ProgrammesEmployee Assistance ProgrammeDigital Doctor ServiceCompetitive pension planBike to Work SchemeIn Crosscare, we approach our work with an attitude of service, showing love, care and kindness in all interactions with others.
