This is an excellent career opportunity for an ambitious SCADA Developer with proven delivery experience to join a leading designer and producer of robotic & packaging solutions, which supplies high-performance robotic automations to Pharma, Life Science & Food markets across an increasingly growing international customer base. The company enables its customers to significantly increase their efficiency and thus their competitiveness.
Growing this division of the business is a strategic goal; therefore, this role will provide a lot of visibility and opportunities in the coming years.
Role Summary
The SCADA Developer will be responsible for the design, programming, implementation, and validation of SCADA and automation control systems within a regulated pharmaceutical environment. The successful candidate will be able to develop SCADA and PLC Programs which ensure compliance with GAMP 5.0 and 21 CFR Part 11 standards, integrate automation solutions with MES and Batch Management Systems, and ensure robust, secure, and compliant data communication between industrial devices and enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and implement SCADA systems for packaging line monitoring and control in pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
* Ensure all automation solutions comply with GAMP 5.0 guidelines and 21 CFR Part 11 electronic records and signatures requirements.
* Integrate SCADA systems with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Batch Management Systems.
* Configure and manage industrial communication protocols such as OPC‑UA, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus.
* Develop custom applications and user interfaces in the .NET framework (especially C#), Visual Basic, and C++ for automation and data handling.
* Program and troubleshoot PLC systems using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, or other IEC 61131‑3 compliant languages.
* Participate in system testing, commissioning, validation, as well as FDS, DQ development and supplier‑client sign‑offs.
* Developing the inputs and managing documentation activities to develop Validation Document Sets in compliance with GMP standards.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with Machine Programmers, IT, OT and quality teams to deliver integrated automation solutions.
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
* 3+ years of experience in SCADA development, preferably in the pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing sector.
* Proven experience in implementing GAMP 5.0 and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant systems.
* Strong programming skills in C#, Visual Basic, C++.
* Experience with SCADA platforms (e.g., Siemens WinCC, Wonderware, Ignition, GE iFIX, or similar).
* Familiarity with MES, Batch Management Systems, Historian and industrial network architectures.
* Proficiency with OPC‑UA, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus protocols.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Requirements
* Experience of Machine Logic and Motion Control Programming using both Ladder and Structured Text languages would be a distinct advantage.
* Develop and commission motion control systems for high-speed interpolated motion systems and robotics (ideally with knowledge of parallel kinematics, Delta-3 and Delta-2 Controllers).
* 3+ years of experience in Automation (PLC, HMI and motion control).
* Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and optimisation for existing control systems platforms and template library development.
* Strong programming skills in PLC Ladder Logic.
* Experience with motion control systems and servo drive programming.
* Experience with database integration (SQL, historian systems).
* Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
* Experience with validation documentation (URS, FDS, IQ, OQ, PQ).
* Familiarity with ISA‑88 and ISA‑95 standards.
* Experience with cloud or IIoT integration.
