Aughinish Alumina, situated on a 1,300 acre site on the Shannon Estuary, is one of the leading industrial plants in Ireland. It is the largest Alumina Refinery in Europe, producing alumina product that is the primary raw material of aluminium. The company also has a Combined Heat & Power Plant. Requirements
Operators must have at least completed the Standard Leaving Certificate with at least a grade C (O5) in Ordinary Level Maths & English OR 3rd level Diploma/Craft Certificate (FETAC Level 6).
A 3rd level qualification in Chemical/Mechanical or related discipline OR relevant Craft Certificate would be an advantage.
Applicants must be fully PC literate, have strong safety awareness & must be available to work across different shift patterns when required.
Control Room experience would be an advantage.
Experience in driving mobile equipment such as counter-balance forklift, crane, MEWP etc. gained in an industrial/ manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
The Process Operator is responsible for all tasks associated with the operation of the Alumina Refinery in a safe and environmentally friendly manner including:
Safe operation of their process area including process and equipment monitoring.
Safe isolation of equipment for maintenance.
Equipment switching.
Monitor and control operating plant to ensure production/operations targets are achieved
Troubleshoot and solve operations problems
Drive mobile equipment
Carry out process sampling as required for process monitoring and intervene when required
Use business systems to record information and for process information.
