Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The ICT Design Engineer is part of a global engineering team that designs critical communications pathways in AWS data centers, collaborating with architects, engineers, and managers to deliver connectivity solutions that support capacity expansion and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic and copper plant designs and specifications; review and approve ICT pathway, cable, and equipment submittals; identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively; support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time; travel up to 20% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers.
Basic Qualifications
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
CNIDP (Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional) and/or BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Design Certificate)
Experience in ICT design in Mission Critical Environments
Experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
Experience with fast-track project design/build or with multiple significant project upgrades
Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)
Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional
Registered Communications Distribution Designer Certificate
