Job Description:
The Chief Pharmacist (Medicines Information and Medication Safety) plays a vital role in leading and managing cross-site strategies, programmes, and teams to ensure the highest standards of medication safety and medicines information provision. This esteemed individual will be responsible for developing and implementing Medication Safety Programmes, collaborating with consultants, nursing officers, directors of nursing, director of pharmacy, and chief pharmacists at UPMC sites.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the strategic development of Medication Safety Programmes in line with clinical evidence, national guidelines, and professional best practice.
* Coordinate and guide the work of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medical colleagues to enhance medication safety and medication safety intelligence across UPMC sites.
* Support colleagues in Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medicine by providing leadership, advice, and information on best practice in relation to medication safety.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) protocols, and guidelines relating to medicines information and medication safety.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland or entitlement to be so registered.
* At least 5 years satisfactory post-registration hospital experience.
* A further qualification such as a post-graduate diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy.
* Proven post-registration hospital practice experience with a broad clinical pharmacy experience and experience of line management.
