We are currently recruiting a Bed Manager for a Nursing Home in Limerick .
Key Responsibilities Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support efficient bed management and patient flow.
Manage and oversee referral, admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and clinical governance standards.
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patient referrals, either onsite or via telephone, to support safe and appropriate placement.
Allocate patients to the most suitable ward or bed, ensuring safe staffing levels and a high standard of nursing care.
Monitor bed occupancy levels, patient flow, and capacity, providing accurate daily reports to senior management.
Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary team members to ensure accurate referrals, effective care planning, and a seamless patient journey.
Participate in MDT meetings to review patient progress and support timely, safe discharges.
Work collaboratively with Clinical Nurse Managers and nursing staff to ensure the efficient and safe management of patients throughout their admission.
Engage with patients and families, promoting informed decision-making, autonomy, dignity, and respect throughout the care process.
Ensure all documentation meets organisational, regulatory, and quality standards, and undertake additional duties as directed by senior nursing and clinical leadership.
Requirements Registered General Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Register, or eligible for registration.
Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) relevant to the role.
Postgraduate Diploma in Gerontology.
Relevant management or leadership qualification.
Proven experience in gerontology or care of older persons.
Experience in psychogeriatric nursing, psychiatric nursing, or care of adults with disabilities.
