Offer description

NexVentur is seeking a Site Engineer to join a leading civil engineering and utility contractor on a major Electrical Infrastructure project in County Mayo.

Our client is a framework partner on national utilities projects and is at the forefront of this exciting project, in the Power/Renewables sector.

This role is centered on the civil engineering aspects of electrical infrastructure, including HV (High Voltage) ducting, substation civils, and trenching. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Site Engineer with a strong civil background to work on high-value, essential utility projects that are critical to the region's infrastructure development.

2+ year' project in the West of Ireland.

Role & Responsibilities

* As Site Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all civil works associated with the electrical infrastructure are executed to the highest technical standards.
* Precise setting out for trenching, ducting routes, joint bays, and substation foundations using Total Stations and GPS equipment.
* Managing complex "clash detection" on-site, ensuring new electrical infrastructure is installed safely around existing water, gas, and telecommunications services.
* Interpreting electrical schematics and civil design drawings to ensure compliance with ESB/EirGrid specifications and national standards.
* Supervising on-site crews and plant operators, ensuring production targets are met without compromising safety or quality.
* Ensuring all ducting depths, surround materials, and joint bay locations are accurately recorded and mapped for the client.
* Implementing strict safety protocols, particularly regarding "Work Near Live Services" and excavations, maintaining a zero-harm environment.

Skills & Experience

* We are looking for a candidate who combines traditional civil engineering skills with a specific understanding of the utility environment.
* 3+ years' career experience as a Site Engineer.
* Direct experience in Electrical Civils (ducting, joint bays, or substation works) is desirable, though a strong background in general civils and utilities will be considered.
* Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and the use of modern surveying equipment (Leica/Topcon).
* Deep understanding of Irish utility standards and the specific requirements for civil works within the power sector.
* CSCS Location of Underground Services (LUS) or Signing, Lighting & Guarding at Work would be a significant advantage.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage site teams and communicate technical requirements clearly to both the client and the workforce.
* Full, clean driving licence is essential for travel across project locations in Mayo.

Pay and package

* Excellent salary and package depending on experience
* Company vehicle and fuel card
* Pension
