Job Overview
A friendly, high‑quality GP role in the heart of Waterford. We are a well‑established, community‑focused practice offering a steady, varied GP caseload in a supportive, down‑to‑earth environment. Ideal for confident junior or experienced vets who enjoy first‑opinion work and value teamwork, autonomy, and balance.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
* General practice role combining consultations, routine surgery, medical workups, and shared emergency care.
* Typically work five days a week between 9 am and 5 pm, with a shared 1‑in‑3 Saturday rota. Out‑of‑hours work is shared fairly within the team.
* Minor sole‑charge responsibility from time to time, supported by a small, experienced team.
Clinic & Team
* Compact, well‑equipped small‑animal clinic in the centre of Waterford City. Facilities: digital X‑ray, ultrasound, in‑house laboratory.
* Team of two vets, two nurses, and three support staff. Calm, respectful atmosphere and strong relationships with clients.
Relationships with City Vets
* Occasional cross‑cover or collaboration when needed, while remaining primarily based at The Pet Hospital.
* Optional exposure to more complex cases at the sister practice.
Qualifications
* VCI‑registered veterinary surgeon.
* Confident routine soft‑tissue surgery and independent first‑opinion consultations.
* Good communication skills with clients and colleagues.
* Comfortable with occasional sole‑charge.
* Not suitable for new graduates or those requiring close day‑to‑day mentoring.
