Objective of this post

The principal objective of the post is to coordinate a suite of microcredentials for Nursing Home Managers working in the Residential Care Sector in Ireland. The candidate will also support the delivery and coordination of a number of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes in the Faculty. RCSI seeks a professional who is passionate about teaching and willing to contribute to an academic role in a multicultural environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, initiative, and excellent organisational and communication skills. The post holder will work closely with the Executive Dean for Education in the development and implementation of these new programmes and will be based in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery.


Specific Responsibilities

* Participate in the administration, design, delivery, assessment and coordination of new educational programmes in the Faculty.
* Contribute to the development and introduction of new teaching programmes, teaching modalities and modes of assessment.
* Liaise with colleagues across RCSI international campuses, other HEIs and the Health Service to facilitate, develop and advance teaching activities.
* Contribute to quality assurance, quality improvement, accreditation and evaluation of new and existing modules.
* Perform any additional related duties as may be required.
* Represent the best interests of the Faculty and wider RCSI at all times.
* Undertake programmes of training and development as required.
* Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students at Masters and PhD level.
* Apply for and administer funding applications.


Person Specification – Essential

* Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Health Systems / Public Health is essential.
* Strong teaching interest and skill set, evidenced by a proven track record and enthusiasm for postgraduate teaching and assessment in relevant areas.
* Internationally competitive research record, demonstrated by peer‑reviewed publications in high‑quality/impact journals and grant support.
* Enthusiasm for the specialist teaching area and the ability to engage students to transfer this passion and learning.
* Capacity for original thought and ability to produce original and up‑to‑date teaching methods.
* Continuous adaptation and innovation of teaching methods to ensure students’ full understanding.
* High proficiency with online learning methodologies.
* Interest in seeking ways to support students’ whole development.


Person Specification – Desirable

* Experience of residential care settings.
* Strong commitment to personal and professional development.
* Excellent time‑management skills to progress across teaching, research and service duties.
* Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
* Proven ability for independent work and teamwork.
* Engagement with external stakeholders.
* Qualification/CPD in teaching within an HEI.
* Effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation.


The Process

Interview and presentation. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a formal competence‑based interview and presentation.


Particulars of Post

This is a three‑year full‑time temporary position. The appointee will report to the Executive Vice Dean for Education in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery.
