Cpl Healthcare in partnership with our client, a non-profit organisation based in Dublin, Ireland, provides services for people who are homeless and people at risk of homelessness in Ireland.
The purpose of this role is to provide a support service within Limerick Homeless Action Team that is both structured and practical to assist predominantly young people who are in homeless accommodation, aiming to identify pathways into long-term suitable accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide assessment and advice to people who are homeless.
2. Participate where necessary in the Homeless Action Team.
3. Enable and assist clients to source suitable private rented accommodation.
4. Work with clients placed in emergency facilities to secure long-term accommodation and avoid continued placement in emergency facilities.
5. Assist clients in settling into accommodation and ensure they are fully briefed on services available from external agencies.
6. Receive and act upon referrals submitted via the interdisciplinary referral protocol.
7. Assist eligible persons with social housing applications, providing information and assistance.
8. Investigate cases thoroughly on behalf of Limerick City and County Council
9. Maintain links with other authorities, Gardai, CWO's etc.
10. Enhance access to health and social services for those experiencing homelessness.
11. Create and maintain client files and records.
12. Provide monthly reports to the Coordinator on caseload and move-on plans.
13. Employ a client-centered approach, promoting autonomy and independence.
14. Establish and maintain relationships with local services and community groups as appropriate.
15. Manage an allocated caseload, adhering to Care and Case Management processes and protocols.
16. Uphold responsibilities regarding child protection and welfare.
17. Collaborate effectively with personnel in Limerick City and County Council/Limerick Homeless Action Team on organisational procedures and policies.
18. Operate under the supervision of line management within Limerick City and County Council/Limerick Homeless Action Team and engage in regular supervision sessions.
19. Comply with relevant Limerick City and County Council Limerick Homeless Action Team policies.
20. Maintain accurate records and statistics according to policy.
21. Identify and report any Health, Safety, and Welfare risks in the workplace.
22. Attend and contribute to Team Section and Agency meetings as required.
23. Participate in relevant training and development courses agreed with the Coordinator Homeless Services.
24. Perform additional duties assigned by the Coordinator Homeless Services from time to time.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* A relevant Third Level qualification at degree level (social care, psychology, sociology).
* Experience working in a social care setting.
* Experience working with young people aged 18-23 years.
* Experience dealing with child protection and welfare responsibilities.
* Ability to carry out assessments, including risk assessments.
* Ability to develop support plans and conduct reviews.
* Ability to handle challenging behaviour.
* Flexibility in the role.
* Full clean driver's license with access to a car.
* Advocacy experience on behalf of a similar client group (desirable).
* Report writing skills (desirable).
* Information Technology skills (desirable).
