Data Architect

12 Month Contract

About the Company

Our client is a leading multinational technology services company renowned for their data teams and is known for being a great place to work.

About the Position

You will explore the latest big data tools and create innovative solutions to address business challenges that only a Data Architect can tackle. As part of a newly formed team in our Dublin office, you will help develop a state-of-the-art big data analytics platform and build data pipelines that will drive new commercial products. You will take the lead in designing and architecting our new federated data model, utilizing a range of cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Databricks, and Snowflake. You’ll play a key role in a team dedicated to innovation, developing proofs of concept that explore exciting new ways to use data. You'll take charge of critical projects with strategic importance, guiding them to success.

Key Responsibilities

1. Defining and implementing a long-term vision and strategic roadmap for data engineering that aligns with broader business goals.
2. Developing and enforcing data architecture strategies, standards, and best practices to maintain data integrity, availability, and security.
3. Analyzing business needs and converting them into detailed ERD diagrams. You will also create, update, and manage ERDs using tools like Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or ER/Studio, ensuring they follow best practices in database design.
4. Partnering with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and transform them into comprehensive data models and schemas.
5. Designing and optimizing data storage solutions such as databases, data warehouses, and data lakes to meet the organization's evolving data requirements.
6. Establishing and enforcing data governance policies to ensure consistent, high-quality data and compliance with relevant regulations.
7. Leading the selection and evaluation of data management tools and technologies based on scalability, performance, and cost considerations.
8. Managing the implementation and upkeep of data integration processes, including ETL (extract, transform, load) pipelines.
9. Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior data architects and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
10. Collaborating with IT teams to ensure data systems operate efficiently, addressing any performance issues or bottlenecks.
11. Staying informed on industry trends and emerging technologies in data management, recommending innovative solutions to improve data architecture.

Experience/Requirements

1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics.
2. Strong expertise in data modelling and database design, with in-depth knowledge of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases.
3. Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, PySpark, etc.).
4. In-depth knowledge of data integration, including ETL processes, data pipelines, and synchronization techniques.
5. Extensive understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
6. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
7. Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub, Jenkins).
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the skill to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
10. Demonstrated leadership experience, with a proven ability to mentor and guide teams.
11. Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Snowflake.
12. Familiarity with the Apache Spark ecosystem and technologies like PySpark and Scala.
13. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
14. Knowledge or experience in developing and deploying production-quality ML or AI models.
15. Experience in the healthcare industry, with exposure to EDI, HIPAA, HL7, and FHIR integration standards.

Remuneration Package

My client is offering a very attractive daily pay rate.
