Do you have excellent wine knowledge and a passion for customer service? We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our Food & Beverage team as a Junior Sommelier.
This is a full-time position, 5 days over 7, including weekends. Excellent employee benefits are on offer, including further education and training opportunities for the right candidate.
Main Purpose of the Job
To assist the Senior Sommelier and F&B Manager in delivering exceptional knowledge and service of wines and beverages, ensuring guest satisfaction and maintaining the highest standards of service in line with Ballyfin’s values.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Wine & Beverage Service: Maintain high wine knowledge, recommend wines tailored to guest preferences, serve wine at the correct temperature with appropriate glassware, decant wines when required, deliver wine and whiskey tastings, and organize wine in cellars according to the wine list.
* Inventory & Equipment: Maintain accurate wine inventory, assist with stocktakes, ensure proper use and storage of glassware and tools, and secure stock and service areas.
* Service & Guest Relations: Prepare the restaurant for service, use upselling techniques, respond to guest requests professionally, and personalize service based on guest preferences.
* Collaboration & Teamwork: Communicate effectively with kitchen and team members, work with the F&B Manager to meet targets, and follow SOPs.
* Training & Development: Engage in ongoing training, stay updated on wine trends, and participate in tastings and events.
* Health, Safety & Hygiene: Maintain hygiene standards, respect equipment, and comply with safety regulations.
