We are actively hiring a Maintenance Handyman/Woman candidate to join the Clearbrook team offering excellent pay and conditions. Clearbrook is a modern purpose-built 90 bed nursing home located in Finglas in Dublin.

Working hours:

37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday. 7.5 hours per day.

Purpose of the Post

To carry out general day to day maintenance in Clearbrook Nursing Home

Roles and Responsibilities

The Maintenance Handyman/Women shall:

· Work as part of the Multi-disciplinary Service Team.

· Work to fulfil Health and Safety requirements of Clearbrook Nursing Home, including involvement in the Health and Safety Risk Management Register.

· Complete weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment, call systems, lights, and general maintenance procedures. Schedule checks of stores and store areas.

· Schedule calibration and preventive maintenance on equipment.

· Perform preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.

· Retain records of calibration, maintenance checks, examinations, testing and servicing.

· Liaise with the Registered Provider to identify maintenance requirements and service life of equipment prior to purchase.

· Perform minor repair of all buildings and equipment. Repair doors, door locks, tables, chairs and closets. Keep all radiators in full working order.

· Assist with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repair plaster and drywall; paint building structures.

· Be aware of the location, form, condition and type of asbestos in Clearbrook Nursing Home if applicable. Record this information and ensure it is easily accessible.

· Complete a documented maintenance schedule to reduce the risk of legionnaire's disease in Clearbrook Nursing Home, which takes into account local conditions (such as hard water) and the risk of valve failure.

· Repair electrical equipment and control circuits with assistance from a certified electrician.

· Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.

· Keep the grounds clean and tidy. Responsible maintaining the garden landscaping as required.

Responsible for coordinating weekly fire drills within the home.

Responsible for coordinating weekly fire bell tests for fire safety within the home.

· Undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Nursing.

· Be aware of the confidential nature of the work and in particular, the right of residents to confidentiality. To this end you will not discuss workings of Clearbrook Nursing Home or its residents with people outside Clearbrook Nursing Home

Eligibility criteria

Qualifications and/or experience

Qualifications

Essential:

· Minimum of three years' experience in similar role. Preferably working in a residential care setting.

Desirable:

* Maintenance Trade
* Manual handling certification
* Safe pass
* Knowledge of fire safety

Essential skills, competencies and/or knowledge

Professional Knowledge

· Knowledge of Residential Care legislation including HIQA's National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland;

· Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, and others as applicable

Core Aptitudes

· Act as a good role model

· Good communication and interpersonal skills

· Enjoy working with older people

Pay: From €17.50 per hour
