Working alongside your Deputy and Third in Charge, and with support from our Forest School Training team and Logistics coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the nursery and for leading the development of the curriculum, following children’s interests and scaffolding their learning through play-based experiences in nature.
We’re looking for someone creative, confident, and experienced in early childhood and working outdoors. You will be passionate about early childhood and child-led learning, as well as the connection between nature and people, and committed to developing and growing the Forest School nursery alongside our director. You’ll love inspiring your small team, leading by example and helping them grow as educators.
The focus for the role is on learning and play, rather than “admin”. This means that our HQ team will manage HR, invoicing, parent enquiries and as much paperwork as possible. The job is about leading and inspiring your team to offer children deep and meaningful learning experiences in nature.
This is a part-time role, but there may be an opportunity for the number of days to increase as the nursery grows.
Specific responsibilities include:
Lead and manage the nursery in line with the Forest School ethos and Hive values.
Lead and manage the nursery team ensuring that high standards are maintained and that all policies and procedures are being followed.
Build positive relationships with parents/carers and staff to help deliver high quality Forest School learning experiences for every child.
Lead the development of the nursery curriculum, researching and implementing new ideas and always aiming to offer every child the richest learning experience possible.
Remain abreast of current developments in childcare and education policies and practices.
Facilitate Ofsted inspections, alongside the director and implement any recommendations.
