Care Network Ireland are currently recruiting a community based Social Care worker to support residents with intellectual disabilities for a client based in Carlow area.
The role is to provide person-centred care to low-maintenance young people (ages with intellectual disabilities, focusing on daily living support, engagement, and developing independence in a community or residential setting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support with basic cooking, cleaning, laundry, and daily routines.
* Encourage independence through participation in household tasks.
* Engage service users in social, educational, or recreational activities.
* Assist with personal care as needed, while maintaining dignity and respect.
* Monitor and report changes in behaviour, mood, or health.
* Keep clear, accurate daily records and communicate with families and team members.
Requirements:
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (or equivalent).
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
* Full clean driving licence (if transport is part of the role).
* Must have valid visa to work in Ireland.
* Understanding of safeguarding and duty of care principles.
* Experience working in a care/support setting, preferably with young people or individuals with intellectual disabilities.
* Strong interpersonal skills - patient, empathetic, and able to build trust.
* Basic household skills - confident in basic cooking, cleaning, and supporting daily living tasks.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as part of a supportive team.
* Knowledge of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum, or behavioural support strategies advantageous.
