Vertiv in Letterkenny, Ireland is dedicated to the design, build and distribution of Modular Datacentre modules, complemented by our factories in Burnfoot and Derry.
We manufacture complete distribution systems, including MV and LV switchgear, busbar trunking, energy management systems and modular power solutions. All manufacturing processes are carried out in‑house, including sheet metal fabrication, paintwork, punching, pressing and bending copper & aluminium. This role offers a mix of hands‑on and design perspectives within a talented team of Mechanical, CSA and Thermal engineers.
Investment in a state‑of‑the‑art tin‑plating and silver‑plating plant has enhanced Vertiv’s engineering offering, and we are hiring a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to join the team.
Responsibilities
* Designing and developing modular buildings for customized solutions in accordance with high standards and demanding requirements.
* Electrical design on projects (Electrical, Fire Alarm and Controls systems) during factory integration in Letterkenny.
* Integration with other disciplines (architectural, structural, mechanical) with a focus on general design, concepts, and calculations.
* Collaboration with the design team to develop construction documentation (CD) sets.
* Participation in the selection of low‑level equipment (distribution, UPS, batteries).
* Preparation of manufacturing documentation and BoMs for installation material and non‑critical equipment.
* Engineering supervision and support when equipping modules at the factory (Letterkenny).
* Engineering support to the service team and subcontractors.
* Involvement in the design stage through content and constructability reviews, providing feedback to the design community.
* Collaboration with local service and the company operations team to define project deployment strategies and execute projects.
* Responsibilities include: as‑built documentation, FAT procedures (L3), installation manuals, and assisting with punch list items.
* Communication with other Vertiv engineering specialists to implement the best solutions and improve project execution with local service teams.
About you
* Bachelor or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
* Experience with electrical installation and basic knowledge of electrical equipment (UPS, cables, batteries).
* Proficient modeling skills; preferred: Revit, EPLAN.
* Active user of Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); AutoCAD experience is a plus.
* Strong English language skills (B2 level).
* Willing to work in an office and support in the factory.
