About the Role
Our client is expanding their Supported Living services for adults with learning disabilities, and we are recruiting compassionate Support Workers to join their team in Newry.
You will support tenants within their own homes, promoting independence, dignity and community inclusion. The role focuses on delivering person‑centred support, helping individuals maintain their tenancies, make everyday life choices, and lead fulfilled, ordinary lives.
Support Workers will work closely with Senior Support Workers and Management to ensure high‑quality care in line with supported living principles, legislation, and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide person‑centred support to tenants, promoting independence and empowerment
• Assist with personal care and daily living activities based on assessed needs
• Support tenants in maintaining their home and tenancy (e.g., bills, household tasks, reporting repairs)
• Encourage community involvement, facilitate outings, and support social inclusion
• Follow care and behaviour support plans; observe, record and report any changes in health or wellbeing
• Report safeguarding concerns in line with policy
• Support tenants with medical appointments and healthy lifestyle choices
• Administer medication in line with procedures
• Assist tenants with managing finances such as shopping, banking and paying bills
• Maintain accurate and timely records, including incident reporting
• Work as part of a positive, engaged team
• Liaise with families, carers, advocates and multidisciplinary professionals
• Undertake mandatory training, supervision, and annual appraisal
• Work shifts including nights and weekends where required
Essential Criteria Experience / Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following:
• NVQ/QCF/VRQ/RCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care plus 6 months paid care experience
OR
• 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above, including English) plus 6 months paid care experience
OR
• 2 years’ paid care experience
Additionally:
• Willingness to complete QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care within 1 year
• Registered, or willing to register, with NISCC
Enhanced Access NI Check will need to be completed
Other Requirements
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
