The Junior Storage Engineer is responsible for supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and monitoring of enterprise storage infrastructure (SAN/NAS) while assisting with project-based upgrades, capacity planning, and data management. This role requires technical knowledge of storage systems combined with basic project coordination skills to manage tasks, documentation, and vendor communication.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Storage Operations
Provisioning & Maintenance: Provision and manage project/home directory quotas, storage volumes, and file systems.
Monitoring & Performance: Monitor storage capacity thresholds, watermark alerts, and performance (IOPS, throughput).
Data Protection: Execute snapshot creation, restoration operations, and manage backup/retention compliance.
Troubleshooting: Triage and resolve level 1/level 2 storage-related problems.
Administration: Perform daily administration of SAN/NAS hardware (e.g., Hitachi, EMC, Huawei).
2. Project & Documentation Management
Project Support: Assist senior engineers with project execution, including new setups, migrations, and upgrades of storage/system infrastructure.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate project records, technical documentation, and configuration checklists.
Reporting: Produce storage performance baselines and capacity forecasting reports.
Vendor Management: Coordinate with OEM vendors for hardware/software support and maintenance.
Requirements
Education: Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
Experience: years of experience in IT infrastructure support.
Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS), Dell Storage And Dell PowerEdge Servers.
