Offshore Substation Contracts Manager (Large-Scale and Complex Wind Energy Projects)
Job Type: 12+ months Contractor role and Full-Time
Reporting to: Team Lead, Offshore PMO
Location: Dublin, Ireland. Remote / Home-Based role with requirement 3x days in the Dublin office, every 3x weeks
Working directly for our client the Infrastructure Delivery Partner to their client, who develops, manages, and operates Ireland’s Electricity Grid. They are responsible for the safe, secure and reliable supply of Ireland’s Electricity. Their job is to bring power from where it is generated to where it is needed throughout Ireland, Onshore and Offshore. Whilst they are not responsible for generating electricity or building windfarms, they are responsible for connecting Electricity Generation Infrastructure, such as Offshore and Onshore Windfarms, into our National Electricity Grid.
The Irish Government is taking major steps to make Ireland carbon neutral by 2050. These steps include a commitment to increase the proportion of Electricity Generated from renewable sources. Ireland’s Climate Action Plan places Offshore Wind at the centre of the State’s commitment to producing up to 80% of Ireland’s energy from renewable sources. As part of the Phase 2 South Coast Offshore Programme, their plans to develop an Offshore Electricity Transmission system to deliver Electricity from Offshore Wind Farm (s) (OWFs) off the south coast of Ireland.
Are client currently is currently seeking an Offshore Substation Contracts Manager in their Offshore Phase 2 team.
Position Overview
The role will be in the Phase 2 Offshore Delivery Team, where the successful candidate will fulfil the role of a Contracts Manager”. The Contracts Manager will have a proven track record in delivering Large-Scale and Complex Wind Energy Projects and will be responsible for managing all Contractual Administration and reporting of Design, Supply, Fabrication, Transportation, Installation and Commissioning of the project's Offshore Substation Package which will include Foundations, Substructures, Topsides and Electrical Equipment.
Offshore Contract Manager will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of commercial agreements and contracts.
To be considered, you must be a Senior Contracts Manager with experience of successfully leading the effective contracts management of FEED, Offshore Substations including Transport & Installation, Offshore and Onshore HV equipment and Onshore Compensation Compound Substations package contracts. Proven experience of FIDIC (Silver book or yellow book) or similar form of contract is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management experience throughout the life cycle of Large Offshore Wind Project, including contract change management and contract claim management.
Develop and define tender package contract strategy in liaison with key business functions to ensure organisation requirements are fully met.
Communicate on supply chain developments and provide regular market intelligence updates highlighting any risks on our critical business path as early as possible.
Support in development of PQQ, tenders, evaluation criteria, scope of work etc and evaluation of proposals for FEED and EPCI packages.
Manage commercial, and contractual matters, in close collaboration with procurement and legal departments.
Pro‑active Contracts Management and claim negotiations including resolution of issues/disputes of Contracts.
Build, maintain and manage close relationships with internal stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Extensive record keeping to lead on the assessment of contract variations in line with contractual provisions.
Ensure contract compliance throughout the duration of the contract, including monitoring deliverables, managing variations and claims and resolving disputes
Data analysis and reporting – collecting and collating data for forecasting and planning purposes plus record-keeping purposes
Management of and communication of contract status to key stakeholders including executive team members
Management of and communication of contract status to key stakeholders including executive team members
Monitoring of contracted Scope of Works and reporting variances to same
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
At least Bachelor’s Degree qualification in Supply Chain Management /Engineering /Business/ Law or equivalent.
At least 15 years of demonstrated experience in contracts management of large offshore wind project required.
Extensive knowledge & proven experience of managing contracts for Offshore Substations including Transport & Installation, Offshore and Onshore HV equipment and Onshore Compensation Compound Substations package contracts.
Robust understanding and proven experience of using FIDIC yellow and silver forms of contracts.
Knowledge of Utilities and/or experience of Public Sector Tendering will be an advantage.
Knowledge of Supply Chain Contract Management fundamentals, best practices, and industry trends.
Understanding of the Financial Analysis and reporting of project budgets.
Develop and define tender package contract strategy in liaison with key business functions to ensure organisation requirements are fully met.
Communicate on supply chain developments and provide regular market intelligence updates highlighting any risks on our critical business path as early as possible.
Strong Negotiation and Conflict Management skills.
Management of and communication of contract status to key stakeholders including executive team members
Monitoring of contracted Scope of Works and reporting variances to same
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
