We are currently seeking a Senior Pharmacist to join our team on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, with part-time or full-time hours available.
Key Responsibilities Ensure the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines throughout the hospital.
Supervise and support the dispensing and administration of medications in line with legal, professional, and hospital standards.
Provide expert advice and respond to medication-related queries from clinical staff and external stakeholders.
Promote best practice in prescribing, administration, monitoring, and medication safety initiatives.
Oversee stock control, procurement, storage, rotation, disposal, and minimisation of medication wastage.
Maintain optimal stock levels, accurate records, and full traceability while supporting cost-effective purchasing.
Adopt a proactive approach to governance, risk management, and compliance with PSI standards and legislation.
Contribute to policy development, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes.
Collaborate effectively with consultants, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
Support education, training, and professional development while maintaining own CPD and acting as a professional role model.
Requirements Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI).
Minimum of three years' post-qualification experience, ideally in a hospital pharmacy setting (community pharmacy experience will also be considered).
Demonstrated clinical, professional, and administrative competence appropriate to a Senior Pharmacist role.
Strong knowledge of medication safety, pharmacy governance, and relevant regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
Proven commitment to high standards of quality, accuracy, and patient safety.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
