Job Profile:
The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the R&D department at Valeo, working within a cross-functional team to develop next-generation vision systems for the automotive market. The role involves taking accountability for all mechanical aspects of assigned projects, ensuring robust designs are delivered on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

* Lead mechanical design projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams developing solutions for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, including cameras, ECUs, and domain controllers.
* Represent R&D in project, customer, and supplier interactions.
* Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary environments.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
* Support other departmental tasks as needed by management.
* Prioritize work daily, weekly, and at the project level for all mechanical team members.
* Identify and escalate resource needs, deficiencies, training, and performance issues, contributing to appraisals where appropriate.
* Lead technical activities such as product validation/testing, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and design optimization.
* Manage project documentation within the PLM system.
* Support technical architecture and standards development.

Education/Training:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.

Professional Experience:

* Mandatory:
* At least 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design.
* Experience developing products for high-volume manufacturing.
* Tooling and molding experience, with the ability to suggest part improvements.
* Proficiency with engineering tools such as DOE and SPC.
* Strong problem-solving skills and methodical approaches.
* Experience creating 2D drawings and 3D designs using CAD software.
* Self-motivated, able to work independently or within a team.
* Demonstrates high commitment, initiative, and quality workmanship in an R&D environment.
* Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
* Previous experience in a senior or lead engineer role, managing teams preferred.
* Automotive industry experience, especially with vision products and electronics, is advantageous.
* Experience with tolerance investigations and stack-up analysis.
* Proficient in detailed drawings and GD&T standards.
* Experience designing thermal solutions, both active and passive, is a plus.
