A hospital in Westmeath is seeking a highly experienced Infection Prevention and Control Manager to lead their IPC team.
Job Summary
This role requires an expert to provide strategic advice on infection control to both clinical and non-clinical staff, conduct thorough investigations, implement effective control measures, develop education programs, and review and update policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and implementation of IPC strategies to minimize the risk of infections.
* Provide expert guidance on IPC principles, microbiology, and epidemiology to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
* Conduct regular audits and surveillance of infection rates and IPC practices to identify areas for improvement.
* Develop and deliver comprehensive IPC education and training programs for staff.
The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, effective teamwork capabilities, and knowledge of relevant IPC standards and regulations.
Requirements
* Registered Nurse (RN) with active registration and experience in infection prevention and control.
* Recognised qualification or training in infection prevention and control (or working towards completion).
* Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in infection prevention & control, including policy development, audit and education initiatives for healthcare staff.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical record systems.
Strong knowledge of IPC principles, microbiology, and epidemiology is essential for this role. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
