Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Sommelier to elevate our guests' experience at the 5-star Sheen Falls Lodge. In this role, you will provide exceptional guest service and contribute to the enhancement of our wine program through your expertise and enthusiasm. You will excel in communication, genuinely care for our guests, and expand your knowledge of wines and pairings. You will help develop our wine list and confidently upsell and promote items based on your expertise. You will collaborate with the Restaurant Director and F&B team during service to create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
Responsibilities
* Oversee wine sales and manage inventory.
* Curate and expand the wine list and provide comprehensive wine training to all F&B staff.
* Organize tasting events and cellar tours to enrich guests' understanding and enjoyment of the wine collection.
* Support daily operations within the wine cellar, maintaining high standards.
Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in a quality-driven operation; ability to work within a fine dining hotel restaurant environment.
* Fluent English, both oral and written.
* WSET Level 3 Award in Wine or Sommelier Diploma, or currently studying towards.
* Good understanding of service within a restaurant and strong presentation skills.
* Ability to interact with guests and employ upselling techniques.
* Well-organised, reliable, and a team player with flexibility to work shifts, including weekends.
* Note: This role requires some manual handling and heavy lifting.
