Role Description
The Assistant Project Engineer supports the planning, execution, and monitoring of engineering and construction projects. This role involves coordinating project activities, assisting senior engineers, and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn, with a solid foundation in engineering principles and project management processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of engineering or construction projects.
* Support senior engineers in preparing project documentation, technical drawings, and specifications.
* Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
* Monitor project progress, track timelines, budgets, and resources, and report deviations to senior management.
* Participate in site visits, inspections, and technical assessments to ensure compliance with designs and standards.
* Assist in the preparation of project proposals, reports, and presentations for clients or stakeholders.
* Support procurement activities by reviewing material requirements, obtaining quotations, and tracking orders.
* Help identify potential risks, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and optimize project workflows.
* Maintain accurate records of project activities, design changes, and technical data.
* Contribute ideas for process improvements, cost optimization, and quality enhancements.
* Learn and apply project management software, engineering tools, and best practices.
* Assist in quality control, testing, and commissioning activities as required.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
* 1–4 years of experience in project engineering, construction, or related engineering roles (internship experience acceptable for entry-level).
* Basic understanding of engineering principles, design standards, and project management methodologies.
* Familiarity with CAD, BIM, or other engineering software is an advantage.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, contractors, and clients.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project requirements.
* Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance practices.
