Senior R&D Engineer Catheter Development Role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior or Principal Level R&D Engineer to join our team in Ireland and contribute to the development of innovative catheters. This role requires an experienced medical device engineer with in-depth knowledge of medical device development for interventional cardiology.
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop design options, assembly processes, and manufacturing plans for our catheter products. They will also be responsible for anticipating risks, developing mitigation plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing design options for catheters
• Creating assembly and manufacturing processes for catheters
• Identifying and mitigating potential risks
• Collaborating with management and marketing functions to ensure physician advisor input
• Protecting intellectual property through adequate IP generation
Required qualifications and characteristics include:
• Self-directed engineer with entrepreneurial drive
• Established vendor network relevant to the device type
• Experience in developing cardiovascular devices, preferably catheter delivery systems
• Competency in Solidworks or equivalent 3D CAD system
Skills & Qualifications:
* Master's or primary degree in a relevant engineering discipline
* Minimum five years of medical device development experience
* Polymer and reinforced composite polymer shaft design
* Design for Manufacture methodologies
* Competency in Solidworks or equivalent 3D CAD system
* Use of insert or overmoulding techniques in catheter construction
* Use of statistical analysis techniques & DOE
