Contract Position

Location: 153 Capel Street, Dublin (Hybrid - in-person and remote)

Diverse Minds Practice is a psychology-led, multidisciplinary service dedicated to supporting neurodivergent individuals. Our team includes psychologists, assistant psychologists, psychotherapists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists. We pride ourselves on providing affirming, evidence-based support that recognises and celebrates neurodiversity.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our team on a contract basis. This role offers the unique opportunity to work with neurodivergent individuals across the lifespan - children, adolescents, and adults - providing comprehensive understanding of sensory, motor, and functional needs throughout development.

You will work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, neurodiversity-affirming occupational therapy that empowers clients to thrive in their daily lives.

Essential RequirementsQualifications & Registration

* BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy
* Registration with CORU (Occupational Therapists Registration Board)
* Current professional indemnity insurance
* Eligible for Garda vetting

Experience & Knowledge

* Experience working with neurodivergent individuals (Autism, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental differences)
* Understanding of neurodiversity-affirming approaches
* Knowledge of sensory processing differences and sensory integration approaches
* Experience conducting functional assessments and developing intervention plans
* Strong report writing and documentation skills

Skills & Attributes

* Ability to work with diverse presentations across different age groups
* Strong communication skills with clients, families, and multidisciplinary team members

Desirable Experience

* Formal training in sensory integration or sensory-based interventions
* Experience with motor skills assessments and interventions
* Knowledge of assistive technology and environmental adaptations
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
* Training in specific OT assessment tools
* Experience supporting school accommodations and workplace modifications
* Understanding of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) profile
* Experience delivering parent/family training and workshops

Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment & Evaluation

* Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults)
* Complete sensory processing evaluations
* Assess fine motor, gross motor, and visual-motor skills
* Evaluate activities of daily living (ADLs) and functional independence
* Assess environmental barriers and enablers
* Administer and score standardized assessment tools

Intervention & Treatment

* Develop and implement individualized, neurodiversity-affirming intervention plans
* Provide sensory-based interventions and strategies
* Support development of motor skills, coordination, and praxis
* Facilitate adaptive strategies for daily living activities
* Provide recommendations for environmental modifications and accommodations
* Support self-regulation and emotional regulation strategies
* Deliver therapy in individual and group settings when appropriate

Collaboration & Liaison

* Work collaboratively within our psychology-led multidisciplinary team
* Attend MDT meetings to discuss cases and share expertise
* Liaise with families, schools, employers, and other professionals as required
* Provide consultation and training to parents, teachers, and other professionals
* Collaborate on comprehensive assessment reports when working alongside psychologists

Documentation & Reporting

* Maintain accurate and timely clinical notes
* Write comprehensive OT assessment reports
* Develop clear, practical recommendations for families and other professionals
* Write letters and correspondence to schools, employers, and services
* Contribute to multidisciplinary reports when required

Professional Development & Team Contribution

* Attend mandatory peer supervision sessions
* Participate in team meetings and case discussions
* Engage in ongoing professional development and training
* Contribute to service development and quality improvement
* Stay current with evidence-based practice in neurodiversity and occupational therapy

Professional Development Opportunities

This role offers valuable experience including:

* Lifespan experience: Work with children, adolescents, and adults, gaining comprehensive understanding of occupational needs across development
* Exposure to diverse neurodivergent presentations and co-occurring conditions
* Collaborative multidisciplinary working with psychologists, psychotherapists, SLTs, and APs
* Supervision and mentorship from senior clinicians
* Training in neurodiversity-affirming practice
* Opportunity to develop specialist skills in neurodevelopmental occupational therapy

Contract Terms

* Contract Type: Self-employed basis (sole trader)
* Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week (flexible arrangement)
* Working Arrangements: Hybrid (in-person at Capel Street office and remote/online sessions)
* Rate: Commensurate with level of experience
* Probation Period: 3-month initial probationary period
* Supervision: Provided by senior staff member
* Payment: Paid gross; you will be responsible for your own tax returns and registration as self-employed with Revenue

Pre-Employment Requirements

* Garda vetting (mandatory)
* Two professional references (academic and/or occupational)
* Proof of current CORU registration
* Proof of current professional indemnity insurance
* Evidence of qualifications (BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy)
