Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this post is to:
· Lead the delivery of complementary therapies and have a pivotal role in managing the provision of complementary therapies to children /teens & their carers within the Haematology/Oncology setting.
· To communicate and work closely with all Haematology/Oncology staff including the Palliative care team.
· To identify needs in relation to the development of complementary therapies, and co-ordinate the introduction of other appropriate therapies.
· To address issues of quality, training, audit, research and delivering of complementary therapies.
· To liaise with the other complementary Therapists/ Centre’s of Excellence regarding training and development of complementary therapies.
Essential Criteria:
Be registered on the Children’s Division and/or the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
AND
Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be within an acute paediatric hospital setting
And
Qualification in a complementary therapy which includes at least one of the following massage/reflexology & aromatherapy at a diploma of higher education or degree level.
And
Minimum of 2 year’s experience in complementary therapies involving children
Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
And
Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
