Intermediate Quantity Surveyor | Cork One of Irelands top 5 Main Contractors Excellent package and career progression opportunities Large interesting projects across multiple sectors Permanent position based in Cork Oradeo Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced IntermediateQuantity Surveyor to work for a large market leading Tier 1 Main Contractor to be based in Cork.
The right candidate will have previous Main/Subcontracting experience and if successful will be working for one of the leading international specialists in construction, infrastructure, fit-out and asset management.
As a member of the Quantity Surveying Team theIntermediateQuantity Surveyor will have responsibility for direction of the function in relation to relevant projects; as a result of which the Intermediate Quantity Surveyor must be commercially aware, with a high level of commitment, initiative and enthusiasm.
IntermediateQuantity Surveyor Responsibilities: Familiarity and competency with the functionality of industrial piping and electrical systems Evaluate and agree project scope variations with both contractor and client Compile and agree final accounts in line with project and commercial requirements Report regularly to the Project Commercial Team, ensuring accurate and timely updates Support the SQS and MQS commercial functions, taking responsibility for key deliverables Prepare tenders, analyse and select appropriate subcontractors, negotiate and finalise subcontract orders Manage the financial and commercial aspects of subcontractors through to Final Account completion Maintain accurate site records, document control, and site measurement records Assist in the preparation of forecasts, targets, and cost-value reconciliations (CVRs) Prepare valuations and ensure submissions are supported with detailed records Prepare and agree variations as works progress, maintaining adequate supporting documentation Update and submit projected final accounts in a timely and accurate manner Liaise with and commercially influence or challenge the site management team as required Maintain and protect JSSs commercial and contractual entitlements throughout the project Actively participate in and maintain an independent understanding of the CVR process Review and consider potential risks and opportunities to maximise project value Develop understanding of insurance and warranty requirements and ensure compliance Support and contribute to effective cash management throughout the project lifecycle Provide assistance in tender preparation and submission as required Manage and oversee Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors, ensuring accuracy and accountability in their work Take responsibility for maintaining site records and control documents to support commercial processes Necessary Requirements: Educated to degree level and working towards relevant professional accreditation Knowledge and understanding of JCT contracts and associated procedures Skilled in letter and report writing, producing clear and professional documentation Strong negotiation abilities across commercial and contractual matters Experienced in preparing and understanding Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) Completion of 2-Day Safety Appreciation Training Sound understanding of contract and commercial principles Working towards or member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills Effectively utilise a range of technology platforms and digital tools Fully conversant with the Standard Method of Measurement (SMM) Display a high level of ownership, commercial awareness, and accountability Possess effective time management, organisational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills Experience in a Building Services (technical or commercial) background is advantageous but not essential Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word Maintain clear, confident, and professional communication across all levels For more information about this Quantity Surveyor position or other Quantity Surveyor opportunities, contact Eoghan Donohoe at Oradeo Recruitment confidentially on or apply in confidence.
