Overview: Ship Clerks play a crucial role in the Middle Mile network, responsible for managing daily department duties such as planning loads around standard departure times, controlling load flow, and ensuring proper trailer utilization. They assign job duties, provide work direction, and communicate with internal and external partners.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate with multiple shipping companies and their contacts.
2. Use shipping software to ship and track packages.
3. Manage trailer coordination and dock assignments.
4. Troubleshoot shipping issues.
5. Maximize trailer utilization to control costs.
6. Ensure on-time dock performance.
7. Update staging and resource allocation data.
8. Oversee load flow and performance tracking.
9. Collaborate with transportation teams on various operational issues.
10. Understand shipping requirements and rules.
11. Maintain safety measures and precautions.
12. Assist in training associates and verifying SOP compliance.
13. Participate in operational excellence initiatives.
14. Support workflow understanding and production goals.
15. Update SOPs as needed.
16. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
17. Identify and address safety hazards.
18. Participate in safety initiatives and report injuries or violations.
Basic Qualifications:
* 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office applications.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
* Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for long shifts, and perform physical tasks.
* Work 40 hours/week with overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in training, teaching, or presentations.
* Willingness to work different shifts and areas.
* Excellent attendance and organizational skills.
