The Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist will provide services to support the instructional program at a variety of schools within the District.

Duties And Responsibilities


* Identify students with communication disabilities.
* Plan and implement appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success.
* Recommend treatment plans and provide direction to school staff.
* Create a speech/language program and classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
* Establish effective rapport with students.
* Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good educational foundation.
* Utilize technology to motivate students and prepare students for 21st
* Participate in school-related activities that enhance teacher, student, parent, and community relations.
* Analyze different data sources in making data-driven decisions for instruction.
* Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visitors.
* Evaluate students to determine eligibility for services under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
* Use current technology for instruction and management purposes.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Knowledge And Abilities

* Knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the services and education of children with disabilities as well as other regulated programs.
* Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent development (cognitive and physical) and of medical and psychological diagnostic instruments as they relate to assessing the needs of children with disabilities.
* Knowledge of terms used to describe physical and learning disabilities.
* Ability to compile and analyze data, interpret the laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to the work.
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Effective oral and written communication

Required Qualifications

* Valid Professional Educator Certification.
* Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders from a regionally accredited college/university.
* Minimum five (5) years of successful teaching experience in special education or related services.

Preferred Qualifications

* ASHA Certification and ABSESPA Licensure
* SUCH ALTERNATIVES TO THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS AS THE BOARD MAY REQUIRE.
