OverviewWe're National Broadband Ireland and we're delivering the largest telecommunications project that Ireland has ever seen. We're designing, building and operating Ireland's new, high-speed wholesale broadband network under the National Broadband Plan. Our aim is to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.The NBI network using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment will deliver high-speed broadband to over 1.1 million people and over 569,000 premises in Ireland. No matter how remote or rural, no town, village or community will be left behind. NBI will be responsible for the management of the new national broadband network for the next 25 years. Key Objectives / Accountabilities:NBI is looking for a Software Development Engineer for Test (SDET) who wants to jump in head-first and help scale a mission-driven company experiencing rapid growth. The SDET reports to the Release and Change Manager, and works with technology solutions to support existing automated test frameworks and test automation capabilities in a variety of platforms and systems. Prior experience in a similar role is required, to take ownership of, and further develop automated test and reporting solutions for software and infrastructure components in our systems.The SDET completes development tasks within wider agile teams to deliver change in support of large project and programmes. This role is all about automation and test data management, and working to develop systems and processes to test and report outcomes in software development and deployment activity efficiently, and the role is suited to senior technician transitioning from a pure test engineering, or a developer transitioning into test and QA to develop a career in systems test automation in support of CICD. Key Responsibilities:Working as lead engineer to further develop and maintain test automation frameworks in support of automated unit, component, function, system integration, end-to-end and regression testing activitiesWorking as lead engineer for test outcome reporting systems and analytics dashboardsWorking as part of a team to integrate test activity within DevOps tools and systems, including GIT, Jenkins, Ansible, CICD Orchestration and Deployment Automation toolsWorking with team colleagues and partners to develop automation solutions for testing within AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, Elastic Load Balancing & EC2 Auto Scaling, Cognito, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, VPC, RDS & Aurora, SQS, and CloudWatchWorking to automate data setup and teardown for test execution and manual test supportBeing mindful of the appropriate processes and security compliance in NBI environments as agreed with Information Security RequirementsSupporting team colleagues with other responsibilities including deployment automation, deployment verification, release support and change governanceWorking with the Release Coordinator to develop release runbook sequence of events activities, ensuring test and verification requirements are met for a successful outcomeWorking with the Release and Change Manager and the Operations Incident Manager in support of unexpected Production outcomes, including assisting incident root cause analysisAttending POD meetings and representing the workload of DevOps Test Automation in the delivery of planned incremental programme updatesAdhering to and championing all IT policies, best practices and standardsKnowledge & Experience:This role would suit an established senior SDET or senior IT development engineer looking for additional responsibilities in their career progression.
