KH Engineering Ltd is a structural steel fabrication company providing design, detailing, fabrication, and assembly services to clients nationwide. As part of our continued growth, we have recently invested in a new, purpose-built coating facility for the priming and intumescent painting of structural steelwork.
We are now seeking an experienced Intumescent Spray Shop Manager to oversee and develop this new operation, ensuring high-quality finishes, efficient turnaround times, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all coating operations in the new spray facility, including surface preparation, priming, and intumescent application on structural steel.
* Plan and schedule workload to support fabrication and delivery deadlines.
* Supervise spray painters and support staff, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to safety procedures.
* Monitor coating quality including DFT (dry film thickness) checks, finish inspection, and QA/QC documentation.
* Ensure all work complies with manufacturer specifications, client requirements, and fire protection standards.
* Maintain paint inventory, ordering materials, tracking usage, and keeping batch records.
* Work closely with project managers and production teams to coordinate workflow and meet delivery targets.
* Implement and uphold safety standards within the spray shop environment.
Key Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial or intumescent coating application, preferably in a structural steel environment.
* Strong technical knowledge of intumescent paint systems, application methods, and curing processes.
* Familiarity with Sherwin-Williams, Jotun, or similar fire protection systems.
* Proven experience managing or supervising a spray team.
* Strong commitment to quality control, safety, and compliance.
* Ability to read drawings and coating specifications.
