Research Associate/ Postdoctoral Researcher in Extracellular vesicle-mediated Immunomodulation
Join to apply for the Research Associate/ Postdoctoral Researcher role at University of Galway
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed term position as a Research Associate/ Postdoc in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Galway, Ireland. This position is funded by the European Research Council and is available from December 1st 2025 to contract end date of May 31st 2026.
Information on project
This is a project funded through an ERC Starting grant, EVEREST, which focuses on the therapeutic application of extracellular vesicles derived from mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC-EVs) for their regenerative capacity. EVs are nanosized packages containing protein and nucleic acids that act as cell–cell communicators. In particular, we are harnessing EVs from MSCs, generated by various chemical and physical parent cell priming, identifying their therapeutic cargo, uptake by recipient cells, and capacity for immunomodulation and regenerative medicine. This specific project will focus on the MSC-EV ability to modulate B-cell activity.
Salary
Research Associate/ Postdoctoral Researcher salary scale €46,305 - €59,063 per annum, (subject to the project’s funding limitations), and pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts. The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale.
Closing date for receipt of applications
17:00 (Irish Time) November 20th. It will not be possible to consider applications received after the closing date.
