Murphy is recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to work with our Transportation & Infrastructure team in Dublin Port (Hybrid role).With a proud history dating back to the 1960s, we provide practical, innovative results, working around the individual needs of our customers. Rail renewals to enhancements, bridge building, highways, ports and emergency earthworks – our award-winning team has extensive experience and has been involved in projects that have changed the face of transport networks in three countries.We dedicate ourselves to being 'better engineered' to ensure our transportation infrastructure solutions meet and exceed customer requirements, delivering value for money through innovation.What you will be doing:Assist with the recruitment and staffing structure/ utilisation for direct reportsAssist in building a team, manage the development of personal plans, establishment of objectives/targets for all direct reports and monitor on an ongoing basis - maintain performanceDelegation of appropriate work to all staff, whilst maintaining accountabilityEnsure the site teams adheres to group procedures and governanceCollate, analysis & challenge Cost/Value Reports and forecasts as required, implement required actionsDesign and implement a commercial strategy for their portfolio and tenders with the assistance of their functional managerEnsure that the Commercial Practitioners administer the contracts correctly in a timely and professional mannerIdentify, mitigate and manage risk & opportunities for the portfolio of workAssist with the development and training of Commercial Practitioners including supervisor / mentor / counsellor role for staff undertaking their APC or equivalentEncourage and develop a culture of contractual & commercial awareness on all projectsBe responsible, where required, to ensure that a review of all of the contractual obligations and commercial risks is carried out prior to the submission of tendersAssist in maximising of cash position, including WIP control, cash flow production & improvement plans for all projectsIdentification and advice upon of insurance related issues, including PIEnsuring a margin improvement plan exists on each projectAssist in work winning duties as required, including proactive release of team members and attendance at Client Presentations for Tender InterviewsEnsuring optimum performance of commercial team for the portfolio of work, undertaking constant reviewing for margin gains in efficiency and timely resource forecastingAbility to handle Client disputes, with assistanceEnsure that the outturn costs on the projects are monitored on a monthly basis through a detailed bottom up resourced and costed forecast maintainedWho we are looking for:SCSI/ RICS accredited degreeSafe Pass at appropriate levelProven Management Skills5 years post qualification experience Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent.
