Location
Crannmór Children's Respite Children's Services provides respite services to children up to 18 years of age who have a wide range of needs including those with autism, physical disability, medical needs and behavioural needs.
Role
Support Workers provide a key-working supportive role to children.
The responsibilities include: providing personal care such as meals, hygiene and other physical well-being support; assisting children with the development and achievement of their Individual Plans; and supporting children in participating in ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking.
Qualifications / Experience / Skills
Good general education; a recognised qualification appropriate to the field of intellectual disability is an advantage; QQI Level 5 or higher desirable.
Minimum six months experience working in a healthcare or childcare setting; experience with people with intellectual disability and challenging behaviours is desirable.
Full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) required; may need Class D1 licence – assistance may be available.
Fluency in verbal and written English essential.
Demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, enthusiasm for the post and basic IT skills.
Working Hours
78 hours a fortnight based on a 14-night duty roster.
The successful candidate will work 7 nights per fortnight including weekends and public holidays and may be required to attend meetings and training during daytime hours.
Daytime hours may also be required to meet service needs.
Remuneration
Department of Health Care Assistant (Disability Services) salary scale (01/02/2026) – €34,536 × 11 increments – €47,152 (Max) per annum.
Long Service Increment €47,954 per annum payable after 3 years on maximum of the scale.
Additional payments for weekends, public holidays, sleep-ins and night-duty when worked.
Employment Details
Post is temporary, full time and pensionable linked to a permanent staff member's leave.
Probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies; employment may be terminated during probation if unsuitable; the probation may be extended at employer's discretion.
