To ensure that we have the right structures in place to support the achievement of our goals we are currently recruiting for a new and exciting role of Knowledge Lawyer in our Construction Group.

The Construction Group advises all stakeholders involved in construction and engineering from planning and procurement to construction and through to operations. The Group advise on non-contentions and contentious matters across a broad spectrum including, housing, office, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, infrastructure, energy (onshore and offshore), transport, utilities, PPPs and data centres.

The successful candidate will work closely with other knowledge lawyers throughout the Firm and will report directly to the Head of the Firm’s Knowledge Team and will play a crucial role in supporting the team by developing and maintaining legal precedents, conducting in-depth research, and preparing comprehensive briefing materials. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in construction law and a passion for legal research and knowledge management.

Key Responsibilities

Precedent Development:

* Create, update, and maintain a library of legal precedents.
* Ensure all precedents are accurate, up-to-date, and reflect current legal standards and practices.
* Collaborate with fee earners to identify areas where new precedents are required and develop these accordingly.

Research:

* Conduct thorough legal research on various aspects of construction law, including case law, statutes, regulations, and industry standards.
* Analyse and interpret complex legal information to provide clear and concise summaries.
* Stay abreast of legal developments and trends in construction law to inform the team and update precedents.

Briefing Materials:

* Prepare detailed briefing materials for internal and external use, including client presentations, legal updates, and training sessions.
* Draft memoranda, articles, and other written materials to support the Construction Group’s activities.
* Assist in the preparation of content for seminars, workshops, and other professional development events.

Knowledge Management:

* Implement and manage knowledge management systems to ensure efficient access to legal information and resources.
* Promote best practices in knowledge sharing and utilisation within the Construction Group.
* Provide training and support to team members on the use of knowledge management tools and resources.

Collaboration and Support:

* Work closely with fee earners to understand their needs and provide tailored support.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic discussions regarding the development of the Construction Group.
* Foster a collaborative environment and encourage knowledge sharing among team members.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Irish (or other common law jurisdiction) qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in construction law.
* Proven experience in legal research, precedent development, and knowledge management [is preferable but not essential].
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
