Director of Sales
Location: Galway, Ireland
Overview
A rapidly growing international medical device organisation is seeking a Director of Sales to join its European leadership team.
The business partners with global OEMs across the full product lifecycle, from development and design through to manufacturing and supply. With advanced manufacturing capabilities, ISO‑certified environments, and a strong international footprint, the organisation supports complex, high‑value programmes within surgical and minimally invasive MedTech.
This is a strategic leadership role focused on driving revenue growth, developing long‑term OEM partnerships, and leading complex technical sales engagements.
Role
The Director of Sales will play a critical role in leading strategic account development and technical solution selling across key international customers. The successful individual will manage high‑value relationships, secure design‑in opportunities, and act as a key interface between customer engineering teams and internal functions.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic OEM accounts, focusing on long‑term partnership development
Deliver annual revenue growth targets in line with business objectives
Maintain accurate sales forecasting, ensuring pipeline visibility and predictability
Lead supplier qualification and audit processes with key customers
Drive design‑in opportunities, securing early‑stage involvement in new product development programmes
Develop and execute multi‑year account strategies, transitioning relationships from transactional to strategic partnerships
Act as a technical liaison between customer engineering teams and internal R&D, translating requirements into viable solutions
Lead cross‑functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure successful project delivery
Ensure all commercial activity aligns with regulatory and quality standards, including ISO 13485 and FDA requirements
Provide market insight and consultative input, advising customers on materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes

Candidate Profile

Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant technical or scientific discipline
Proven experience within the medical device sector, ideally in a MedTech or OEM‑facing environment
Strong background in surgical or minimally invasive technologies
Demonstrated success in managing complex, long‑cycle technical sales processes, from design‑in through to commercialisation
Experience working with global OEM customers and engaging with multiple stakeholder groups, including R&D, quality, procurement, and operations
Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and regulatory frameworks, including ISO 13485 and FDA standards
Ability to translate technical requirements into commercial solutions
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
